Sync issues between devices #545

Brief summary

Hi all,

I can't figure out how to sync my 2 devices (note, I'm trying to sync the read status ie current chapter).

I tried the Kotatsu sync servers, it kind of worked until it didn't. Now the devices won't sync even if I force them to with 'sync now'.
I tried setting up mal, I tracked all the mangas from my first device and checked if they were all there and synced on mal (they are), but then after adding mal to the second device, after adding tracking to a manga, the app doesn't seem to pull the read status ? (it even otherwrites the status without our of date info if I start reading it)

Did I miss something ? Is sync working as indended ?

Steps to reproduce

For kotatsu sync:

have both devices logged in to the same sync account (and server, I'm using the default sync.kotatsu.app)
tap on 'sync now' on the first (up do date) device and wait until its done (I have both favs and history synced)
tap on 'sync now' on the second (out of date) device and wait until its done
reading statuses aren't updated on the second device

For mal:

Connect to mal on the first (up to date) device
setup tracking for all mangas and sync the chapters by "reading" them
check the mangas/chapters are synced on mal
Connect to mal on the second (out of date) device
setup tracking for a manga
a. manga chapters aren't updated
b. if you ”read” the manga on the secoud device, it updates mal with the out of date status

14.0 // rom based on android 11
